Hmm, not really sure what to talk about on these. Well, I guess an introduction? Sure. Why not?
So, my name is Michael Fullerton but I mostly go by my nickname "Mikko" Mikko is Finnish for Michael pretty much. It was the name of a character I made on World of Warcraft. Yes, I do play that from time to time. I decided to name my character that because I thought Mikko sounded cool and I got it from the name of the guitar player of the Finnish rock group HIM.
His name is Mikko Lindestrom, and after doing some research I learned that Mikko is pretty much the Finnish equivalent of Michael. I actually wanted it to be a stage name for this band I was in, it was for a while but then it just stuck to me. It's very convenient because there are way too many people named Michael where I live, and I like it!
I am very interested in the entertainment arts, I've always have been every since I was a little kid. I love watching movies on the big screen and I love listening to epic musical score that's in films. I would play with the neighborhood kids with sticks and other toys and pretend they were weapons and act like we're in some battle just like in the movies, I would have some sort of battle music playing in my head.
I also love video games because they too would provide the same thing films do, wonderful stories, and brilliant musical scores; Well the more later video games like high end playstation and ps2, gamecube, ect era.
I'd have to say music spurs my imagination most of all. Laying in my bed at night with my headphones and mp3 player and just escape off into my imagination, imagining stories in my head.
I've always been singing, but I didn't really get into it till I was about sixteen. I began to listen the band HIM a lot and I mean A LOT. Ville Valo is my number one inspiration for singing. I tried starting up numerous that were semi serious, I didn't know many musicians except for a guitar player. It wasn't until after high school that I actually joined a serious band and began writing music.
It's funny, I was a HIM fan and all I knew to do was sing clean and pretty like, and I ended up joining a Thrash metal band and had to learn how to sing aggressively.
I managed to pull out vocals that were passable but bad. I used James Hetfield of Metallica as inspiration for singing roughly. I eventually got better at it and sounded alright, then the band broke up due to the guitar player having a huge ego. It was a big mess. I took a break from singing and performing after a few failed attempts at a new band for a while. I couldn't stay away from it for long though, I began to miss it. Around that time I was listening to bands such as Nightwish, Hammerfall, and Sonata Arctica; These Symphonic Power Metal bands. I wanted to do something like them, and began to search to for other people who enjoyed this amazing style of music.
I managed to find a group of guys with the same interests in music and we're currently working on our material so we can play shows! This is where I am currently at now.
